Take Charge of Your Health
Holly Bronco
Your health is your responsibility! And you're never too young to take care of yourself. As a matter of fact, the sooner you start to pay attention to your health, the easier it will be to remain healthy throughout you life. Don’t be one of those people who come in to us in their forties and tells us how they wish they had taken better care of themselves when they were younger!!
ARE YOU EATING THE BEST FOODS?
Here’s a quick way to know!
The best foods are those with the fewest ingredients, closest to their natural state. They can be cooked or raw. These healthy, whole foods should be ideally paired at each meal with complimentary foods that balance proteins, fibrous carbohydrates and complex carbohydrates. For example; a chicken breast with broccoli and a sweet potato. All beautifully simple and perfect together!
Reach for snacks that have limited ingredients as well; like almonds, walnuts, apples, blueberries and strawberries, eggs, Greek yogurt and cottage cheese.
ARE YOU DRINKING ENOUGH WATER?
Most likely not!
Not drinking enough fluid deprives your body of the tool that it needs for its most basic functions. Water carries all of those good nutrients from the healthy foods that you eat throughout your body, and allows them to be absorbed properly. It also helps you to maintain proper body temperature, keeps your joints lubricated, and gives form to your cells! Without water, your cells dry up and put you at risk for some very serious problems. Another thing to consider is that dehydration is cumulative. This means that if you didn’t get enough fluids on Monday, and then again on Tuesday, you have twice as much hydrating to do to get your system back to ground zero. Keep track of how much you drink, and stay ahead of dehydration!
ARE YOU USING HEALTHFUL PRODUCTS?
Can you pronounce the ingredients in your soaps and shampoos?
Chemicals in body care products are quickly and easily absorbed into your skin, which is an organ! Do you really want all of those chemicals floating through your bloodstream? Try to use products that have natural ingredients; if you can’t pronounce it- think twice about using it!
Educate yourself about how different natural products work, and what products would serve your needs best. You are ultimately responsible for what you put in and on your body- treat it well and reap the benefits!
